Raptor Shift Light Install-Viper

 

 

1992-1995 (1st gen)

Engine RPM signal is located at the 34 position ignition control module (ICM) connector. Use one of the coil control signals listed below. ***Do not use the tach out lead from the ECU (signal too weak)***

Pin #3 (coil driver #1)

Pin #1 (coil driver #2)

Pin #12 (coil driver #3)

Pin #18 (coil driver #4)

Pin #10 (coil driver #5)

Set the shift light to 1 pulse/rev (2 cylinder mode)

1996-2002 (2nd gen)

Engine RPM signal is located at the engine control module (ECM) which is any of the coil control signals listed below. This is connector "C1". There are 3 connectors total. Connect the green wire of the shift light to one of these (any of these wires can be located at the ignition coils or at the ECM, 32 way connector, "C1").

The wire colors for the coil drivers are as follows:

ECM connector "C1" pin #7 to Coil driver #1- Black wire with gray stripe

ECM connector "C1" pin #9 Coil driver #2- Dark blue wire with tan stripe

ECM connector "C1" pin #3 Coil driver #3- Red wire with yellow stripe

ECM connector "C1" pin #1 Coil driver #4- Yellow wire with gray stripe

ECM connector "C1" pin #5 Coil driver #5- Dark green wire with gray stripe

 

Shift light must be set to "2 cylinder" mode  (1 pulse/rev) since it will read off any of the 5 coil drivers

If installing the dual mode shift light:

The Vss wire (white wire on the shift light) connects to the ECM connector "C2", pin #27. This is a white wire with an orange stripe.

 

2003-2007 (3rd gen)

 

 

 

 

 

4th generation Viper (2008-2010)

In 2008, Dodge went to coil on plug ignition coils. Connect the green wire of the shift light to only ONE of the 10 coil drivers. There are 4 connectors on the ECM (C1, C2, C3 and C4).You can connect at any coil or at the ECM.

ECM connector "C2" pin #1 to Coil driver #1- yellow wire with dark blue stripe

ECM connector "C2" pin #10, Coil driver #2- white wire with dark blue stripe

ECM connector "C1" pin #8, Coil driver #3- dark blue wire

ECM connector "C2" pin #9 Coil driver #4- Dark blue wire with gray stripe

ECM connector "C1" pin #3 Coil driver #5- dark blue wire with yellow stripe

ECM connector "C2" pin #7 Coil driver #6-  dark blue wire with orange stripe

ECM connector "C1" pin #2 Coil driver #7-  brown wire

ECM connector "C2" pin #3 Coil driver #8-  dark blue wire with yellow stripe

ECM connector "C1" pin #1 Coil driver #9-  yellow wire with dark blue stripe

ECM connector "C2" pin #2 Coil driver #10-  orange wire with dark blue stripe

 

Shift light must be set to "1 cylinder" mode  (1 pulse/2 rev) since it will read off any of the 10 coil drivers

If installing the dual mode shift light:

The Vss wire (white wire on the shift light) connects to the ECM connector "C4", pin #29. This is a dark blue wire with violet stripe.

5th generation viper (2013-Present)

ECM connector "C2" pin #1 to Coil driver #1- yellow wire with dark blue stripe

ECM connector "C2" pin #10, Coil driver #2- dark blue wire with yellow stripe

ECM connector "C1" pin #8, Coil driver #3- dark blue wire 

ECM connector "C2" pin #9 Coil driver #4- Dark blue wire with gray stripe

ECM connector "C1" pin #3 Coil driver #5- dark blue wire with yellow stripe

ECM connector "C2" pin #7 Coil driver #6-  dark blue wire with orange stripe

ECM connector "C1" pin #2 Coil driver #7-  brown wire 

ECM connector "C2" pin #3 Coil driver #8-  dark blue wire yellow stripe

ECM connector "C1" pin #1 Coil driver #9-  yellow wire with dark blue stripe

ECM connector "C2" pin #2 Coil driver #10-  yellow wire with dark blue stripe

 

If installing the dual mode shift light:

The Vss wire (white wire on the shift light) connects to the clutch switch since the 2013+ Viper has no vehicle speed sensor (uses wheel speed sensors connected to ABS module to calculate speed).

The shift light will have to be programmed for clutch switch operation.
