2001 VR6, the signal to the coil is where you will tap into for the engine speed signal. There are 3 wires leaving the ECU and each going to the ignition coil module. You can use any one of the 3 wires for the signal.

The wire colors are as follows:

Pin #102 of 121 Pin Connector on ECU (T121): Coil #1: lilac with green stripe

Pin #94 of 121 Pin Connector on ECU (T121): Coil #2: lilac with black stripe

Pin #103 of 121 Pin Connector on ECU (T121): Coil #3: lilac with yellow stripe
