Raptor Shift Light Install-Kawasaki ZX6R
The power wire needs to attach to the white/yellow wire on the service connector plug which is located on the wiring harness in front of the ECU, behind the gas tank. This is the fused side of the ignition circuit.
The ground wire needs to attach to the black/yellow wire on the service connector plug which is located on the wiring harness in front of the ECU, behind the gas tank. Or simply connect to a good solid ground on the bike's frame.
The green wire of the shift light connects to the black wire on the top left of the small ECU connector or any of the other stick coil signals as follows:
2005-2012 ZX6R
Engine Speed Signal:
Coil Driver #1: Black Wire
Coil Driver #2: Black / Green Stripe Wire
Coil Driver #3: Black / White Stripe Wire
Coil Driver #4: Black / Orange Stripe Wire
Vehicle Speed Signal:
Signal off transmission speed sensor (Yellow wire) that runs to ECU and gauge cluster.
2013-2014 ZX6R
Engine Speed Signal:
Coil Driver #1: Black Wire
Coil Driver #2: Black / Red Stripe Wire
Coil Driver #3: Black / Orange Stripe Wire
Coil Driver #4: Black / Green Stripe Wire
Vehicle Speed Signal:
Signal off rear wheel speed sensor (Red / Yellow Stripe wire) that runs to ECU.
*** NOTES***
Set the shift light to "1" cylinder mode if using the dual mode light that has upper rpm limit of 20,000 RPM and program the rpm setpoint directly 1:1.
If using the single mode light with upper rpm limit of 9900, set it to "2" cylinder mode and then program the rpm setpoint by 1/2.
**CAUTION**If using the output option for auto-shift during installation, program the shift light first, and then hook up output from shift light (brown wire) to avoid shifting into gear un-expectantly during initial programming. THE SHIFT LIGHT WILL GROUND THE BROWN WIRE WHEN IT HITS THE SETPOINT. We also recommend a small toggle switch inline with the brown wire to disable/enable autoshifting.
